Why I’m Running.

Hi, it’s Clint. If you’re here, you’re wondering why I’m running for Chelan County Commissioner. It’s a fair question!

Here’s the short answer: I have unique tools and skills I’ve gained through my career that can help our county run better, lead through trust, and come up with innovative, collaborative solutions to the challenges facing our region.

Priorities

My career has been about creating shared understanding that leads to improvement. What does that mean for you? I’m dedicated to defining expectations and creating accountability resulting in a better experience for you working with the county, and for the folks working inside the county. I want to reach out to our regional partners and find cooperative solutions that can meaningfully address our lack of a variety of housing that works for our county residents. Finally, we need to make sure we can pay for what we promise. That means making sure our budget balances – just like you have to do for your family.

    • One of the most pressing issues facing the county boils down to trust. People need to trust their experience with the county will be a consistent, professional one built on a dedication to service. Additionally, those working at the County need to trust their employment experience is one they can feel good about. I plan on addressing this by first asking questions to get to the “why” these breakdowns are happening and then creating expectations and accountability ensuring opportunities for improvement are occurring.

    • We all know the first few rungs on our housing availability ladder are torn out. It’s not just low cost, “affordable” housing, but home ownership options for our teachers, our nurses, and our young families are mostly out of reach. Solutions will require a regional, partnership-based approach, both providing incentives for builders to make this kind of housing worthwhile, as well as identifying areas within our county where this development can make sense.

    • We can do anything we set our minds to - but we have to be able to pay when the bill comes due. Chelan County is dealing with a crushing budget deficit - why? You deserve an advocate who can lead the hard conversations about how services get paid for - and what needs to be adjusted so our books balance - just like your family has to do every month.
